Access to clean, safe water is not just a need — it’s a basic human right.
At EWWA, we work at the intersection of water scarcity, displacement, climate
change, and poverty to ensure equitable access to this life-sustaining resource.
Our initiatives are tailored to meet the water needs of both rural communities
and refugee populations across East and Central Africa.
We prioritize sustainable water management and local empowerment by implementing
a comprehensive range of water access and protection strategies:
Community Borehole Drilling & Rehabilitation:
Many African communities depend on a single water point, which is often overused or
contaminated. EWWA drills solar-powered boreholes in remote regions and restores
broken wells to full functionality. This not only shortens the distance women
and children walk to fetch water but also drastically reduces the risk of
waterborne diseases
Spring Protection & Water Safety:
Natural springs are vital to thousands of villages but are vulnerable to pollution.
We design and construct spring boxes, diversion channels, and filtration systems
that preserve these critical water sources. Community training on source protection
ensures long-term sustainability.
Rainwater Harvesting & Storage:
EWWA supports the installation of rainwater catchment systems for schools,
clinics, and homes — capturing every drop during the rainy seasons. Combined
with elevated water tanks and low-cost purification, these systems create
decentralized water access where piped supply is unavailable.
